Whois Privacy Protection, at times also referred to as Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the actual contact details of domain registrants on WHOIS websites. Without this service, the personal name, home address and email account of any domain owner will be openly available. Providing false details during the registration procedure or changing the genuine details at a later time will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing his/her domain name ownership rights. The policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, demand that the WHOIS info must be correct and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by registrar companies as an answer to the rising concerns for potential identity theft. If the protection service is activated, the registrar company’s contact details will be displayed instead of the registrant’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are certain country-code ones that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Web Hosting

If you order a web hosting package from our company, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains in case their extensions support this option. You can register/transfer a domain and add Whois Privacy Protection during the registration process or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any moment afterwards through the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is very easy – after you sign in, you’ll have to visit the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domain names that you’ve registered with us. For each one of them you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign, which will tell you whether the service is active or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without any difficulty. This takes only a few mouse clicks in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, via which you administer everything associated with your account. This is where you can see all your domains and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign, using which you can activate, renew or remove the service. Of course, this can be done only with gTLD and ccTLD extensions that are Whois Privacy Protection-eligible and you’ll be able to see this beforehand, so that you will not end up purchasing a service that we cannot provide.
